Watercolor Art Thank You

Exploring the versatility of the alcohol marker and vellum technique has been such a rewarding journey, and I’m thrilled to share this creation with you. This dreamy thank-you card combines deep, rich tones with the magic of vellum and Stampin’ Blends to create a one-of-a-kind design that truly stands out.

For this card, I chose a color palette of dark Misty Moonlight, light Misty Moonlight, dark Shaded Spruce, and dark Pretty Peacock for the alcohol markers. These colors blend beautifully together, creating a moody and ethereal effect. First, the colors are layered onto the vellum, letting each layer dry completely before adding the next. This technique allows the colors to build and blend into something truly magical.

After the rubbing alcohol treatment is done, the sentiment of “Thanks So Much” from the Kindest Expressions stamp set in a crisp, clean Pretty Peacock ink was stamped onto the vellum; however, it didn’t stamp as well as I wanted – so I moved to Plan B and stamped the sentiment onto a Basic White sentiment piece that was adhered to the bottom of the vellum.

The sentiment looks so elegant against the dreamy background. Once the art piece was complete, it was overlaid onto a piece of Basic White cardstock. This step not only enhances the vibrancy of the colors but also gives the piece a polished and professional look.

To frame the art piece, it was layered onto mats of Pretty Peacock and Lost Lagoon cardstock. The combination of these colors complements the vellum’s rich tones perfectly. For a touch of texture and embellishment, I created a simple double-threaded loopy blue Baker’s Twine bow for a delicate, handmade touch. Dimensionals were used to adhere the entire matted piece to the Pretty Peacock card base, adding depth and dimension to the overall design.

The inside of the card received its own bit of elegance. I matted a piece of Basic White cardstock onto Lost Lagoon, providing plenty of space for a heartfelt message to the recipient. A thoughtful detail like this makes the card feel complete and cohesive.

What I love most about this technique is how every card turns out to be so unique. The alcohol marker and vellum method truly creates one-of-a-kind pieces of art, and the possibilities are endless. This thank-you card, with its rich tones and dreamy vibe, is a perfect example of how versatile this technique can be.

I’ve created a video tutorial on YouTube that you can refer to anytime.

I hope you’ll give this technique a try and see just how magical it can be. Let me know what you think, and don’t forget to share your own creations—I’d love to see them!
