Today’s card is a delightful fun fold with a surprising twist!
This unique design starts with bright Calypso Coral cardstock as the base. The left front side is cut on the diagonal from the top left corner to the bottom right, creating an eye-catching dynamic layout.
To add layers and texture, a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock is also cut diagonally. Half of the Crumb Cake cardstock is run through the new Mini Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder (available as an Online Exclusive through Stampin’ Up! beginning March ’25), giving it a cool cardboard-like look before being adhered to the left diagonal flap. On the right front card piece, a layer of Cajun Craze cardstock, cut the same way, is attached to the trimmed-off Calypso Coral diagonal and then adhered behind the left front card panel.
When assembled, this creates a beautiful and unique overlapping effect where the two diagonal pieces meet near the center. Inside the card, a framed panel of Basic White cardstock, backed with Cajun Craze, holds the sentiment “You Make My Heart Smile” from the Layers of Beauty stamp set in Early Espresso ink. This heartfelt touch completes the interior with warmth and charm.
The true highlight of this card is the stunning Dahlia fold! Created using small Stylish Shapes circles die cut from the Timeless Plaid Designer Series Paper, this intricate folded flower is carefully arranged and attached at the center where the diagonal layers meet. A Gold Low Profile dot in the center provides the perfect finishing touch.
This versatile card design is so fun to create that I made several variations, including a Basic Black base with the Nests of Winter DSP and the Elements of Text stamp set, a Basic White base with the Thoughtful Journey DSP and a sentiment from the Mixed Labels stamp set, and an Azure Afternoon base with the Bloom Impressions DSP, again using the Mixed Labels stamp set.
This fun fold card layout is endlessly adaptable, allowing you to mix and match colors, patterns, and themes to fit any occasion.
